It is with honor that we present Founding Presiding Overseer Dr. Johnnie B. Porter, founder and visionary leader of the Kingdom Unity Fellowship Alliance (KUFA). Dr. Porter currently serves as Pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Living Grace Life Church and has devoted his life to ministry, leadership development, worship, pastoral care, and Kingdom service.

A native of Tyler, Texas, Dr. Porter was raised within a rich Church of God in Christ heritage under the leadership of his late father and pastor, Bishop Cornelius Fletcher Porter, who served as Presiding Ecclesiastical Prelate of the Texas Lone Star Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. From an early age, Dr. Porter was deeply involved in ministry through music, Christian education, worship leadership, and church service, helping shape the foundation for his lifelong commitment to the Kingdom of God.

​

Dr. Porter’s ministry journey has been shaped by decades of spiritual mentorship, theological education, pastoral leadership, and interdenominational service. After relocating to Atlanta for theological studies, he worshiped and served under the leadership of the late Bishop Oliver J. Haney of New Horizon Church of God in Christ, who also served as Dean of the Charles Harrison Mason School of Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center. During that season, Dr. Porter also assisted in ministry development efforts while serving within Community of Faith Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Leo McGrue.

Dr. Porter is a graduate of Texas College and later attended the Interdenominational Theological Center, where he studied at the C.H. Mason Theological Seminary and earned dual master’s degrees in Divinity, Pastoral Care & Counseling, and Christian Music with a concentration in Church Hymnody and Liturgical Worship. He was ordained as an Elder during his theological studies and has remained committed to bridging sound doctrine, compassionate ministry, and practical leadership throughout his journey. He is also completing doctoral studies in Marriage and Family Therapy.

His ministry and pastoral development continued through Clinical Pastoral Education and chaplaincy training experiences in both Georgia and Texas, including service connected to the VA healthcare system. Following his marriage in 2005, Dr. Porter and his wife served faithfully together at Kelly Lake Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Norman Odell Harper.

In 2007, Dr. Porter founded New Bethesda Christian Ministries, which later became Living Grace Life Church in 2015 as the ministry continued to expand its vision and outreach. In 2023, he was called to serve as Pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he continues to serve faithfully today.

​

Over the years, Dr. Porter has also provided leadership within several fellowships and ministry organizations. He was appointed to serve as State Overseer for Georgia within the United Churches Worldwide Fellowship under the leadership and continued endorsement of Bishop Ivory Stafford. Through this fellowship, he also maintained connection to broader global ministry relationships associated with the leadership of Bishop Neil Ellis. Dr. Porter later briefly served as Georgia State Overseer within Kingdom Destiny Fellowship International before answering the call to establish KUFA.

In addition to his Pentecostal heritage, Dr. Porter also became connected to the Friendship Fellowship Association under the leadership and continued support of Presiding Moderator A.L. Zollicoffer, relationships that helped open the door for his pastoral service within the Baptist community, including his leadership at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Dr. Porter’s understanding of fellowship, ecclesiastical leadership, and organizational development was also shaped through his close connection to the formation and growth of the Texas Lone Star Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. Under the leadership of the late Bishop David Livingston Smith, the jurisdiction began as a developing fellowship effort that would later grow into a recognized and impactful work within the Church of God in Christ.

During those formative years, Dr. Porter witnessed firsthand the sacrifice, vision, prayer, and leadership required to build and sustain a growing fellowship. His late father, Bishop Cornelius Fletcher Porter, faithfully served as First Administrative Assistant to Bishop D.L. Smith and later carried significant leadership responsibility within the jurisdiction. As a young minister actively involved in ministry during that season, Dr. Porter gained invaluable exposure to the process of cultivating leadership, building churches, developing organizational structure, and nurturing covenant relationships across ministries.

​

Today, Dr. Porter continues to honor the legacy of Bishop D.L. Smith, his father Bishop C.F. Porter, and the ongoing leadership of Bishop Don Nobles, recognizing their enduring influence upon his life, ministry, and vision for Kingdom collaboration. He often shares, "I am... because of them."

​

As Founder of KUFA, Dr. Porter is committed to cultivating a fellowship centered on unity, integrity, accountability, leadership development, and Kingdom collaboration. His vision reflects a desire to strengthen churches and leaders while honoring the uniqueness of every ministry assignment and local congregation. Through mentorship, fellowship, education, worship, and strategic partnerships, he continues working to create environments where leaders are refreshed, churches are strengthened, and communities are impacted for the Kingdom of God.

Dr. Porter is also a business owner, counselor, chaplain, and community leader who remains committed to serving both the church and the broader community with compassion, wisdom, and integrity. He is the devoted husband of Mrs. Robyn J. Porter and the proud father of Evan B. Porter, Ava S. Porter, and Lillian G. Porter.

​

Supported by respected spiritual leaders and a Council of Bishops, Dr. Porter continues to move forward with humility, vision, and a steadfast commitment to advancing Kingdom purpose through unity, service, and spiritual leadership.
